Our club continues to be having a very busy and active winter. This month we will be operating the bar at the Curling Bonspiel on February 8th, and operating another bar at the Harbourside Inside on February 14th.

On February 16th members will be helping at the Family Day Event at the Hall organized each year by MaryDale Ashcroft. We always look forward to this event and thank all who make it possible.

We also will be helping at a Shrove Tuesday Breakfast on February 25th working alongside the members of Christ Church Anglican on this event.

There are a number of projects in the works that you will read about in future reports. There will, undoubtedly, be fundraising for the rebuild of the Lion’s Head Lighthouse which Rotary will be part of in some way as spring rolls into summer.

It is good to have two new Rotarians with us to help at these activities. We welcome Rick Paciej and Kathy Austin to our club. We know they will enjoy a busy month of activities. Remember we always have room for interested and community minded people who would like to join our team.

All the money raised at our events and bars, of course, helps with Rotary projects including our Scholarship Programs at Bruce Peninsula District School as well as the many organizations we support in this wonderful community and beyond.

ROTARY THANKS NBP CAO BILL JONES FOR HIS SERVICE

Bill Jones has been an integral part of our community for ten years now. He has been a great supporter of Rotary during that time and has encouraged our club to continue our service to this community. We have, throughout his tenure as CAO, had an excellent working relationship with both Bill and Council itself. Bill’s support, as well as that of Council itself, has helped our club grow and serve our community.

Bill recognizes the value of service clubs and organizations that help to support a community. We shall miss his leadership. We thank him for his service, support and vision. We wish him well in the future.

HARBOURSIDE INSIDE

What a successful event the ‘Harbourside Inside’ evenings was in January! We are pleased to be able to provide beverage services for these events and the community has responded to this new idea with just as much excitement as they did to the summer Harbourside at the beach. Thanks, once again, to MaryDale who seems to always be finding new and exciting ways to keep us entertained in this wonderful community. Thanks to all the entertainers, workers, and, most of all, the people who come and enjoy a wonderful evening of entertainment.

This will be a special one on February 14th because it is Valentine’s Day. The theme is LOVE SONGS and, therefore, bring your partner or friend to the Rotary Hall for a night of great entertainment. All are welcome and we hope you will attend.

MAPLE MAGIC

On behalf of our friends in Wiarton Rotary we invite you to their ‘Maple Magic’ March 21-22 and 28-29. This is an annual event that they do. It is hosted at the Regal Point Elk Farm, 462081, Concession 24, Georgian Bluffs, Ontario. Times are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Wiarton Willy has predicted an early spring and the sap should really be running by then. Come and enjoy and support Rotary at the same time.
