The Bluewater Ballistix 17U Ontario Volleyball association team from Grey- Bruce includes two boys from North Bruce Peninsula. BPDS students Sacha Oke and Lucas Hellyer both play for the team who won the Gold in the trillium B division championship on Saturday, January 11 in Barrie at Georgian College.

The team has students from Owen Sound, Kincardine, North Bruce Peninsula, Wiarton and Port Elgin. The boys are all part of the Big Bruce Volleyball club in Chesley as well. Great to see our local boys defeat an established Toronto Titans team in the final.

Their next action will be in the Championship division on February 8 in Kitchener.

The team is coached by South Bruce Peninsula resident Al Gundrum with help from Tim Smith and Steve Taylor of Port Elgin.

BPDS student Michelle Davies Straby getting ready for semester 2 at Georgian in the level 1 cook program. After many months in the cafeteria the next steps await. This OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program) serves as a bridge to post secondary job readiness. Good luck! And bake up a storm. BPDS participates actively in creating job readiness for the future.
