Major Book Sale Homecoming Weekend – August 3rd, 10am-2pm

Submitted by Isla Carmichael

The Friends of the Lion’s Head Library are collecting a great selection of books, magazines, DVDs and CDs for the book sale coming up on Saturday, 3rd August from 10 am – 2 pm at the library. We are selling books by donation and all donations collected are applied directly to programs for the Lion’s Head Library. Make a note of the date!
Please keep donating books for this summer sale and drop them off at the library anytime the library is open.
We love Friends of the Lion’s Head library! If you want to work on the Friends of the Library book sale, please contact Brenda Langlois at or Donna Hambleton at
We learn from our Library Board members that opposition continues to the cuts being made by the provincial government to the Southern Ontario Library Service (SOLS). This service provides our library with all deliveries from outside Bruce County, including new books and materials that have been ordered for our collection – the lifeblood of our library; administrative materials for library staff; as well as inter-library loans of books and materials from outside Bruce County for library members like you. The costs to our library of mailing or couriering all these materials are substantial until the cuts are reversed. Please contact our local MPP, Bill Walker, and let him know how hard these cuts are for Bruce County Libraries. We love our libraries.
On a more cheerful note, our grant has arrived from the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula and library staff is hard at work on summer programming for children. Keep an eye out for news from the library on children’s sack gardening and other programs during the summer months.
