Royal Canadian Legion Br. 202 Darts and Cards Now in Full Swing

Lion’s Head Legion Branch 202 President Fred Van Tooren laying a wreath on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Submitted by Fred Van Tooren, PRO

Remembrance day has come and past with the weather not really co-operating, but we do not complain. The weather that our Troops had to endure in the first and second world war overseas was much more miserable, with mud, rain and cold weather to struggle through. We can endure a little snow for half an hour.

The Legion would like to thank the Cadets who participated in the Remembrance Day Ceremonies at Monument Corners and in Lion’s Head for their services. They were very helpful. We would also like to thank the people that came back to the Legion and participated in the pot luck.

The Grey Cup get together was a great success. We raised close to a thousand dollars for the new proposed wheelchair accessible washroom plus we received another donation from the Lioness Club of one thousand dollars.

On Thursday December 6, we will have the lottery draw for the one thousand and the five hundred dollars which we had started in the early spring.

Darts and cards are now in full swing with a lot of Legion and non-Legion members participating. Come on out on Monday and/or Thursdays (except for the first Thursday of each month when we have our Legion meeting). All sports start at 1PM. There is also euchre on Friday nights starting at 7:30PM, so come on out have some fun.

Last but not least look after your Flag replace it when necessary!!

On behalf of the Legion, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
