Our next community Pancake Breakfast will be held at the Rotary Hall (59 Main Street, Lion’s Head) on Sunday, July 5th, from 9:00 to 11:30 AM on the coming Canada Day holiday weekend.

We anticipate that the new concrete patio at the front of the Hall will be open by then, and additional picnic table seating will be available outside of Rotary Hall, in addition to table seating inside the main Hall.

Come join us for a delicious breakfast of buttermilk & vanilla pancakes with real maple syrup, scrambled eggs, pork sausages, seasoned hash browns, orange juice and coffee/tea, served by Rotarians and Friends of Rotary.

Once again, Rotary thanks our individual and corporate sponsors who generously donate product and money to help defray our costs of putting on these breakfast events, allowing us to return more of the proceeds back to the community of Northern Bruce Peninsula! We hope to see you at our next Pancake Breakfast at Rotary Hall!

Our next Friday Pub Night at the Rotary Hall will be July 3rd, followed by Pub Nights on July 17th and 31st. In addition to a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, a variety of snacks are available at Rotary Pub Nights. Please join us for fun Friday Pub Nights at the Rotary Hall!

Graduation ceremony for Grade 12 graduates of Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS) will be held at the school on the evening of Thursday, June 25th. Members of the Rotary Scholarships Committee (Gwen Bestard, Doug Embleton, and your Rotary reporter Rob Hiscott) will attend this event to celebrate the graduating class and present four Rotary scholarships and award valued at $1,500 each to support graduates pursue post-secondary studies.

Rotarians will present the ‘Highest Academic Proficiency’ Scholarship (to the graduating student with the highest Grade 12 average), the Bob Spearing ‘Service Above Self’ Scholarship (to a student whose community volunteer and extra-curricular activities best exemplify the Rotary motto of ‘Service Above Self’), the Keith Hopkinson Memorial Scholarship (to a graduate proceeding into a post-secondary program in a medical, health or related field), and the Mary Cameron Award for ‘Most Improved Student’ (to the graduating student who has shown the most improvement over the course of their high school studies).

Your local Rotary Club has supported graduates of BPDS in their pursuit of post-secondary studies through scholarships and awards since 1972, over half a century! The names of this year’s Rotary scholarship and award recipients will appear in the next Rotary article in Bruce Peninsula Press.
