On the evening of November 1 2025, over 60 jack-o’-lanterns lined the path from the beach pavilion towards the Harbourside stage at the Lion’s Head Beach. Community members strolling among the illuminated jack-o’-lanterns commented on the creativity and artistry of the carvings.

Again this year, Lucy Weston brewed her delicious concoction of spiced apple cider. The warm apple cider warded off the chill while community members stood around and chatted with each other under a moonlit sky.

Many of the carvers and spectators have been turning up year after year to contribute and/or to admire the amazing array of art carved on pumpkins. Luna the bunny brought three jack o’ lanterns while Robert was back again this year with his four creations. A surprised appearance of five colourful inflationables added a spark of exuberance to the event as spectators took selfies and admired the adorable costumes.

Graham Weston decorated the pavilion with halloween- themed displays and provided the mood appropriate recorded music. Daughter Mia, visiting to enjoy Halloween with her parents, and especially to see this event, was enlisted to serve the warm apple cider to the attendees. The apple cider was donated by Hellyer’s Foodland. Charlotte Chinn assisted in PR for the event.

Organizers Dominic Wong and Sara Hsaio thanked the community for their continued support of this event, the many talented carvers who brought their jack o’lanterns to the parade and the volunteers.

After the event all the pumpkins were collected, those not returned to their owners, will be composted or be given to local chickens.
