The Ferndale/Lion’s Head and District Lions Club have started meeting regularly again. It was back in March of 2020 that the Lions cancelled their regularly scheduled Hockey Tournament due to what the members thought to be an abundance of caution due to Covid 19. The members have kept in close contact throughout the pandemic and have continued to serve the needs of the community despite their inability to host regular meetings and special events. They are looking forward to a busy upcoming year of continuing community service.

Chartered in 1974 the Ferndale/Lion’s Head and District Lions Club immediately committed a large pledge to the major renovation of the Lion’s Head and District Community Centre and Arena. For the last forty-seven years, by means of a large variety of popular events, the Club has greatly benefited from the support and participation of the community members in their fund-raising efforts. Recent donations have been provided to assist the Grey Bruce Health Services and the Lion’s Head Firefighter’s Association.

This past October the Lions were pleased to participate in the Gravel Gran Fondo by serving a delicious lunch to the over four hundred and fifty participants and volunteers.

This March the Lions Hockey Tournament will again host at least twelve teams and the arena will be open for all to view the games according to health and safety guidelines.

Also back on the agenda for the coming year will be the Horseshoe Tournament at the Lion’s Head Beach Park on the August long weekend and the ever popular Pumpkin Toss/Lawn Mower Race next Thanksgiving.

The Lions motto is “We Serve” and the Club continues to respond to the needs of groups and individuals. Regular Club dinner meetings have commenced at the Swan Lake Legion Hall on the second and forth Wednesday of each month with the exception of the months of July and August. The Club members would like to thank the owners and the staff of Bear Tracks Restaurant for their hospitality and generous support.
