On May 22, 2026, the staff of LCBO in Lion’s Head sponsored their first customer appreciation BBQ with over 150 community members turning out to the event.
The local LCBO employs four full-time staff and two additional staff members join for the summer months. The staff say they are very appreciative of their customers, and felt that a community BBQ would be a good way to thank them.
Wholly funded by staff members, it was the brainchild of staff member Roy Allen. Manager Vicky Warder says the staff all chipped in to make the event a success.

With near perfect summer weather, the staff set up the food tent near the LCBO building in Lion’s Head. Customers were surprised to hear that this was not a corporate LCBO funded event, but a staff initiative to express their personal thanks to their customers. The staff was pleased with the turnout. They said it was a lot of fun for both staff and customers, with “lots of laughs and hugs” and was a great way to kick off summer.
Four weeks prior to the event, staff started to invite their customers. The staff went out and bought all the ingredients. The community enjoyed hot dogs cooked by Chef Roy, chips and brownies. Vicky baked rice krispy squares and her fried onions as an additional condiment was a big hit.
The Lion’s Head LCBO staff plan to make the BBQ a yearly event.
