Hikers know the importance of having a nutritious snack while on the Trail. Imagine if you didn’t know when you would have your next meal. Local food banks provide that additional support for families and individuals who need a little extra to make ends meet and support community health. There are four foodbanks on the Saugeen (Bruce) Peninsula.

Peninsula Bruce Trail Club (PBTC) hike leaders wanted to help. During the month of January, PBTC hike leaders organized a food drive called, Trail2Table. Peninsula Pet Supplies partnered with PBTC to offer an additional drop off point for those who could not join the organized hikes.

Hikers who participated in PBTC organized hikes brought non-perishable food donations to the hike. Food donations were collected by the hike leaders for the entire month. If hikers couldn’t make the hike, they could still drop-off donations at Peninsula Pet Supplies store in Ferndale.

Our combined donations raised 129.2 pounds of food for the Lion’s Head & District Food Bank. Thank you to all those who contributed toward the Trail2Table food drive campaign!
