A strong and hardy group of Northern Bruce Peninsula residents came out to greet their old friend Santa Claus on a frosty, windy day full of snow squalls! We stomped our feet and rubbed our hands together in an effort to keep from freezing, but our faces could not keep from smiling!
Under the leadership of Parade Marshall Rod Anderson, the parade floats and their creators gathered in the parking lot at the Tobermory Community Centre. The Parade began promptly at 1 pm and followed its usual route along Head Street to the Post Office corner, where it turned left and left again for our favourite part of the route, where we get to go the wrong way on the one-way street.
After the parade, more than 40 children took turns telling Santa their hopes for Christmas within the warmth of the Community Centre. Children were presented treat bags and a choice of a toy, courtesy of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch 290. There was a craft and cookie decorating station. Children were also able to pick out a book courtesy of the Friends of the Tobermory Library.
Thank you, Santa, for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit us here in Tobermory! We will be watching for you on Christmas Eve.
