Nature provided the picture perfect wintry setting with alternating moments of snow squalls and sunny skies on December 6, 2025, for the annual Lion’s Head Santa Claus Parade. With over 24 entrants comprising floats and individuals from local associations and businesses, it was a colourful and festive procession, thrilling the large crowds that came out to see the parade.
Santa, a nativity scene with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, the Grinch, mascots Sparky the Fire Dog from the Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire Department and Parka the beaver from Parks Canada, inflatable Santas, a unicorn, Gingerbread Man and upside down clown were some of the many notable characters in the parade. And the ponies and horses which are always a crowd pleaser.
Many of the parade participants gave out candy to the kids that lined the parade route.
Due to renovations outside the Rotary Hall, the parade goers were invited to the Lion’s Head United Church after the parade for hot beverages and snacks and for a get together with Santa. The Friends of the Library gave out books to the youngsters.
The annual parade is hosted by the Rotary Club of Northern Bruce Peninsula. New parade marshall, Sue Kolundzic, said “it’s a fun job” as she gave direction to the line-up of the 24 + floats.
Spectators marvelled at the many floats, saying it was a great parade and that with the large number of entrants it showed tremendous community support by the local businesses and associations. They were also happy to see so many young families with kids turn up to see the parade, proving that the village is a thriving place.
Rotary President Catherine Henderson was especially pleased that so many organizations took part in the parade. There is no pre-registration required, so it is always exciting to see such a large turnout of creative floats and costumes. Also notable was the huge turnout of spectators, and the large numbers of kids that came to the church hall to meet Santa and collect treats. Henderson said everything came together smoothly which all made for “a successful and fun day”.
