Well, as fall ends and we all prepare for winter, know we will still be here at the club doing all usual things – plus a few bonuses. So don’t stay home, come out and join us like-minded seniors, whether it is crafting, learning a new card game (great for anyone with dementia), dancing, yoga, exercise, hooking, lunches and dinners – the Friendship Club offers something for everyone.

We had a visit from Ontario’s Minister of Seniors and Accessibility, The Honourable Raymond Cho, and our own MPP Paul Vickers from Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound. Both were very pleased with our accomplishments at the club and the club itself. Both men were very strong in their belief that activities should be in a facility, especially in the winter, as that is when depression and anxiety can set in.

I hear constantly “can’t get out in the winter”, but the fact is, even with last winter being bad we only closed the center 3 times. You might say that is because people live in the village, but actually it was the members outside the village that made it in.

Here are some pics of a workshop we did with Forty Hills Farms and Flowers for fall, but it’s not about making things, it’s all about the cup of tea and cookies and companionship. The craft is just a bonus!
