Congratulations to all our Viewer’s Choice winners and to all the quilters whose talent and creativity made the annual ‘Airing of the Quilts’ an outstanding show! Visitors were inspired by the variety of entries and the high level of workmanship on display.
A quilt show takes many hands to succeed. We are grateful for the family members and friends who helped with setup and takedown and for the maintenance staff who were present to assist.
Special thanks go to the Tea Time Quilters who worked diligently throughout the year to create beautiful boutique items. The Canada themed products were especially popular with visitors. Thanks to community donations and boutique sales we are able to make a generous donation to the Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary.
Mark your calendars! We look forward to welcoming you to next year’s Quilt Show.

Photo: Viewer’s choice for medium quilt was ‘Hollyhock Memories’ by Mary Swanton
Mary hand-quilted her piece and carefully appliquéd each flower she designed. Her use of fabric creates an ombré effect, gradually blending from light to dark, adding movement and depth.
Photo: Viewer’s choice for wall hanging was ‘Morning Songbirds’ by Louise Johnstone.
This style of quilt is called colour wash. It uses many small squares of different fabrics arranged in lighter to darker shades for desired effect. The birds were added with an open edged appliqué method. It was quilted with a domestic sewing machine.
Photo RIGHT: Viewer’s choice for small quilt was ‘The Celtic Knots’ by Sheila Inniss.
Sheila chose the Celtic Knot block as it represents her Scottish background. The knot is achieved through an over-under weave with narrow fabric strips. Her quilt was hand-quilted and hand-appliquéd.
