Music on the Bruce (MOTB) Chamber Music Festival will return to the communities of the Bruce Peninsula August 20-24, 2025. This season will feature string trio and clarinet, with MOTB artists Robert Woolfrey (clarinet), Sarah Pratt-Parsamian (violin), Caitlin Boyle (viola), and Rachel DeSoer (cello). Festival events will span the length of the Bruce Peninsula, with concerts in communities from Southampton to Tobermory.
The 2025 program offers music of well-known composers interspersed with composers you may be hearing for the very first time. Featured on the program is the only string trio written by Mozart, Divertimento in E-flat Major, K. 563. It’s a late work by Mozart, written just three years before his death. The Concerto a Trè by German/American composer Ingolf Dahl is a light-hearted virtuosic work for clarinet, violin, and cello; we are sure you’ll love the upbeat spunky feel of this piece. Our featured Canadian composer for this season is Talivaldis Kenins. Kenins taught at the University of Toronto for 32 years starting in 1952. We’ll feature two of his compositions this summer – his string trio, and a solo clarinet work written in hommage to Mozart.
MOTB gratefully acknowledges financial support from the Bruce Power Community Grant program, and from the Town of South Bruce Community Grant program. We also thank all our individual donors and sponsors for your continued support. You all make this festival possible!
