Sylvia Elliott, one of 12 permanent member artists, has resided amongst the trees along the shore of Lake Huron for more than twenty years. Working and playing with mixed media collage, she recombines materials and this layering allows her to simultaneously reveal and conceal and ultimately bring cohesion to disparate parts, creating a new whole. Sylvia has curated art shows for Sources of Knowledge at the Parks Canada Visitor Centre in Tobermory. Her work can also be seen at the Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op, Southampton Arts and The Art Shoppe in Miller Lake.

Amanda Millar, another permanent Red Schoolhouse Gallery artist, elevates functional pottery to art through contemporary style and innovative designs by incorporating pleasing contours and an array of hues. Every piece is handmade on the potters’ wheel and then fired in a gas reduction kiln. Following a 4-year apprenticeship at Gleason Brook Pottery, Amanda launched Full Circle Ceramics in 2021. Her homestead studio in Lion’s Head, where she now does what she loves full-time, opened in 2023.
