Well, once again we had discouraging results from our Club’s Annual Spring Roadside Cleanup. On April 24th, a crew of SWANS completed cleanup of our section of the Highway from Cherryhill Road to the Lindsay Tract Trails and collected 10 bags of garbage and 5 bags of recyclable materials. This is unbelievable to me because it was only 6 months ago that we picked up all the litter before heading into the winter months. And… just to rub salt in the wound, it has started all over again. Within hours of the girls’ hard work, 2 empty cans had been tossed on the side of the road. Come on people!
Before I start using inappropriate language, I better move on to another topic.
The SWANS have had a very busy Spring and this is a good opportunity to say thanks on behalf of the Club for supporting our fundraising initiatives, your generosity is so appreciated. We have many projects lined up for the upcoming months and we look forward to completing them. We have implemented some changes so that our commitments are served by “teams”, so that the workload is spread out among more members and it seems to be working well. As Volunteers, it is important to watch for burnout, so this is one of our strategies to keep our work enjoyable for all.
