Is there a problem with what is in this blue box? The answer is both no and yes! Let me explain. Technically, glass is allowed in a blue box, it can be recycled. But why lose the deposit amount and increase capacity of our township recycling bins, unnecessarily?

Keep the Bruce Clean and Green would like to offer a solution. We know that the lack of a bottle return in Tobermory means more people are just tossing their returnables in their blue boxes, here is our offer.

Keep the Bruce Clean and Green will accept bottle and can donations over the summer months (July and August) at 182 Cape Hurd Rd., in Tobermory. If you are willing to donate the cash value to our initiative (which we always give back in some form to the community) we will dispose of the bottles and cans for you. All refundable containers will be accepted.

We will “sweeten the deal” even more, we will offer curbside pick up of your bottles, from your house! So you don’t have to do a thing just call 519-596-2649 give us your address and we will do the rest!

We will respect social distancing protocol in either situation. When dropping off bottles to 182 Cape Hurd Road, just look for the wooden pallets on the driveway and add to our collection!

If you have any questions please email us at keepthebruceclean@gmail.com. Also, please visit us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

We will keep you abreast of our progress, cheers!
