Tuesday May 13, 2025. That’s the date that will mark the launch of the Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association’s (BPSA) 2025 youth and adult ARCHERY PROGRAM.

It is one of our conservation club’s most popular programs. You can understand why. Archery is a growing sport in Canada especially among young people. It is an accessible sport that allows people of all ages and athletic abilities to take part. Archery has proven to grow self-esteem especially among youth.

BPSA Archery co-ordinator Brenda McLean issues the invitation: “Shoot with your family, your brothers, sisters, your friends. This season I hope even more people will use the BPSA archery range. Bring your equipment or use our club’s.”

BPSA provides all the required gear for the youth part of the program. Adults may also try our equipment to determine which type and size of bow they would like to buy. The BPSA Archery Team offers the use of the club’s recurve bows and arrows for members who don’t have equipment.

On orientation night Tuesday May 13th, at 6pm, full details of the BPSA Archery Program will be explained including safety guidelines and program rules. Then the 2025 season kicks off a week later on May 20. We do not prepare archers for competitions, however, in the fall, BPSA holds an in-house 3-D Tournament and Potluck for members.

The site of the BPSA Archery Program is the BPSA clubhouse property at 611 Northacres Road west of Wiarton.

About the BPSA:

The Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association is a 300-member conservation group established in the 1960s to enhance and protect fish and wildlife. We are best known for stocking fish for the sports fishery. We have the longest operating volunteer run community hatchery in Ontario.

One of our priorities is involving young people in outdoors sports. We involve kids in raising fish in our hatchery, fin clipping, hatchery maintenance and many other programs that have made our club successful.

The club boasts tree planting, invasive species awareness, and youth and adult firearms safety programs.

All coaches, officials and volunteers of BC Archery are required to take Safe Sport training. Safe, inclusive sport environments help make sport rewarding and enriching for all. Safe Sport training gives you the knowledge and skills to create those environments by recognizing, addressing and preventing maltreatment in sport.

Club meetings are held on the last Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm at the BPSA clubhouse. If you feel you would like to explore membership in our club, join us. Guests are always welcome!
