There seems to be some confusion and misinformation about the way to book an event at the Rotary Hall at 59 Main St. in Lion’s Head. All bookings of the Rotary Hall are done through the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula as it is a Municipal facility. You must contact them at their Administration Office: 1-833-793-3537 or go to their website, click on Municipal Facilities, and then click on the blue Rental Application Form button. They will review your request and provide a rental agreement. All access, setup and cleaning arrangements are done through them and details are outlined in their rental agreement.
The Rotary Club of Northern Bruce Peninsula (NBP) has a lease agreement with the Municipality for our club’s use of the space, including our sponsored events, and holds a liquor license for the building. If you wish to have bar service at your event, you have to advise the Municipality in your rental agreement with them, satisfy their insurance requirements, and then contact us at nbprotary@gmail.com to make a separate agreement to provide bar service to serve alcohol.
The Rotary Club of NBP does not charge a fee for bar service and members provide their service on a volunteer basis. Unless otherwise agreed by all parties, all proceeds from the sale of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as any tips and donations, are revenue of the Rotary Club and are used to support our non-profit activities and community service projects.
Rotarians are a helpful group, and, if we are in the building preparing to provide a bar, we often help individuals and organizations with their setup arrangements, and have been know to loan equipment and assist in other ways, but this is not part of the rental agreement with the Municipality.
There was a time, many years ago (20+?) when the Rotary Club managed all bookings and cleaning for the Rotary Hall, but that arrangement is not current and hasn’t been for a long time.
We hope this information is helpful and clears up some questions.
