Thanks, Thanks, and More Thanks
SERVICE – WE ASSIST, NURTURE, SUPPORT

Our Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser was held on May 9th in the Auditorium of the Arena in Lion’s Head. We are so pleased to report that it was a SOLD OUT event! This year’s theme was “C’Mon Barbie – Let’s Go Party” and it sure was fun. It is always an opportunity to meet up with old friends and to make some new ones.
Some of the SWANS, and a few in the audience, dressed as their favourite Barbie dolls (mature version) and it was great to see the participation. We even had a Barbie Photo Booth, thanks to member Kim Dawson, which provided additional entertainment. The decorating committee worked hard to make it feel like “Barbie Land” so it would be a fun atmosphere for the evening.
This year we decided to return to serving a dinner and a huge thanks goes out to Gail, Jane and their crew of platers, servers and cleanup people. Preparing and serving dinner to 160 people is no small task, so we really appreciate all of their hard work. Great job!
A special thanks to Connie Tackaberry for getting the evening started with her opening remarks.
Dannah Oliver was the MC for the actual fashion show portion of the evening and although she makes it look easy, it is a big responsibility. Dannah never disappoints with her remarks and stories, so thanks for keeping the crowd laughing!
Of course, this fundraiser could not happen without the generosity of the 3 participating local stores, so thanks so much to Verna’s of Tobermory, Classie Casual Boutique of Pine Tree and The Shops at 84 Main in Lion’s Head and their models. We know it is a great deal of work for you and we really appreciate your dedication to our fundraising efforts.

Our Club also is thankful for the donations made to our Silent Auction table and to the successful winners of the beautiful items. We are so fortunate to live in such a giving community!
The funds raised at this event are donated to many projects in our area; thanks for helping us, help others!
A project of this size involves all our members – it is a team building experience. Thanks to the many hands that made it happen.
