Mark your calendars! The 2024 Rotary Huron Shore Run is scheduled for June 1st, and planning has been underway for many months to make this year’s event a day to remember.
If you are new to the area, the annual Huron Shore Run is a community event with a goal of promoting physical fitness and active living, while raising funds for several community initiatives. Our runners and walkers meet at the starting line on High Street in Southampton to traverse and follow the beautiful shoreline south towards Port Elgin with a goal of raising funds for a variety of community initiatives.
What motivates us!? Each year the Rotary Huron Shore Run team donates the event profits back to community causes and this year is no different. For 2024, the primary fundraiser is for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation and the new Wellness & Treatment Centre build; the first of its kind in this region! Based on harm reduction and recovery principles, the Wellness & Treatment Centre will provide a safe environment for individuals in need of additional support following discharge from hospital/addiction services or who are being referred from a community agency. Additional funds raised will support the Saugeen Track and Field Club, the Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club, Breakers Swim Team and all three Rotary groups in Saugeen Shores (www.rotaryrun.net/our-cause).
Because of our awesome community, we have been able to continue the Rotary Huron Shore Run for over 35 years! The endless support of all our sponsors, runners, donors, pledges, and volunteers for our event is what makes it great. A huge thank you to all involved over the years! We couldn’t do this without you and cannot wait to see you at the starting line on June 1st.
