A Christmas wish came true, reconstruction of the grocery store in Lion’s Head began the week before Christmas. Kara Hellyer says there is “no time lines to share, or finish dates, but a good start is worth a share.”
Logistical issues and insurance details had to be worked out. The Hellyers stated “the insurance world is hard to navigate, so please be patient as we take each step methodically and cautiously.”
From her social media postings, Kara said that during the first week of work, the construction crew was working non-stop (apart from sleeping) since they got here! – All the way from the Toronto area .” She complimented the crew on their dedication saying there is no insulation left and no heating upstairs. Seeing these contractors in t-shirts says something about their work ethic!”

Scott’s Home Hardware is now stocking milk, cream, eggs, bacon, butter and cheese. They have taken over supplying some basic food items, since The Shoppes at 84 Main is closed until February. The fridge containing the items is located by the cashiers at the front of the store.
