There was amazing support for the Lion’s Head Terry Fox Run, with over $21,000 raised. The online donations totaled $18,268 while on the event day approximately $1,800 was collected. The Annual Fall Sailboat Race donated an additional $1,700.

About 60 persons assembled at the parking lot of the Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS) on September 17, 2023 to participate in the in-person event. Humans and dogs of all ages participated in the Run by walking, jogging or biking.

Many young families and multiple teams signed up to participate in the in-person event, either going the full 10 km, or a portion of the route, from BPDS to Isthmus Bay. Water stations and markers were set out at 2.5 km and 5 km.

The Annual Sailboat race, taking place on the same day as the Terry Fox Run, also donates to the Terry Fox Run. This year they contributed $1,700.

Organizers Anna and Adam Martens say the “goal is to bring our community together to honour Terry Fox, have some fun, and raise some money for cancer research”. They say the donations from this year’s event is the largest amount the local event has ever raised.
