The Chi-Cheemaun Festival Ball Tournament returned in full swing this year providing an entire weekend of fun and entertainment for everyone. Tobermory Primary Place (TPP) child care center was hustling in the food booth for three days serving up the irresistible aroma of fried onions and over a thousand delicious burgers.

Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, the food booth at the diamond was run by our dedicated Board of Directors, TPP parents and family members, and generous community volunteers.

Peacock’s Foodland was a huge support for our weekend, reaching out to vendors to help to keep our costs down as well as ensuring we had all the supplies we needed to make it through. Big thanks to Ricky Peacock who managed to keep making us burgers even after the burger pressing machine had broken down.

Thank you to the Crowsnest who offered us the use of their space and electric slicers to make our prepping easy and quick and to Vivian Wyonch who sliced six pails of onions and helped us keep the booth and grills sparkling clean.

In addition to the $8,000 raised at the burger booth, which included a donation from the winning team Miller Wasted, Maple Leaf Foods operated a sausage cart at Peacock’s Foodland on Saturday and generously donated the proceeds of $1,016 to TPP. These funds will go a long a way to help with the upcoming move to our new location at St Edmunds school this fall.

We would like to thank everyone who came out to eat, drink and watch baseball over the weekend. We are incredibly thankful and so very fortunate to have such a supportive community.
