Three new members were inducted as Rotarians of our Club at a recent meeting held at Rotary Hall on Tuesday, June 6th. District Governor Elect Sonja Glass attended and welcomed Chris Bird, Mike Bird and Dan Bryans as new Rotarians, presenting each with their orientation packages.
Chris Bird has lived in Lion’s Head for about three years, and joined Rotary as a way to get involved in the community. Mike Bird purchased Smokey Grove Bed & Breakfast (formerly The Cat’s Pajamas), works with technology (from software development to hardware installation, to workshops/lessons on using technology), has lived in Lion’s Head permanently since 2020, and also joined Rotary to be more involved in the community. Dan Bryans is a retired elevator mechanic from Windsor. He and his wife Heather came to Lion’s Head in 2017, moving here permanently in 2021. Dan joined Rotary because he believes in the importance of supporting his community, and enjoys participating in the many different events Rotary hosts. Welcome to our newest members of Rotary Club of Northern Bruce Peninsula!

On the same evening, Rotarian John White received a Rotary pin signifying his second Paul Harris Fellow award. John is a Past President of our Rotary Club, is currently Club Treasurer, and recently received a Volunteer Award during the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula 2023 Annual Volunteer Recognition Day Event, recognizing John’s substantial long-term volunteer contributions with Rotary Club of Northern Bruce Peninsula.
Rotary Pancake Breakfast this coming weekend!
Our next scheduled Rotary Pancake Breakfast will take place on the Canada Day weekend, on Sunday, July 2nd, from 9:00 to 11:30 AM at the Rotary Pavilion next to Lion’s Head Beach.
Breakfasts include pancakes with real maple syrup, scrambled eggs, pork sausages and hash browns, as well as orange juice and coffee to drink, and cost $15.00 per adult ($7.00 for kids aged 12 years and under), with all profits going towards Rotary local community projects.
We encourage you to bring your own plate and cutlery to help reduce waste from this breakfast event. In addition to picnic table seating outside the Rotary Pavilion, there will be an option for breakfast pick-up for those wishing to take away their breakfast. We also remind people that this is a ‘Cash Only’ event, since wifi connectivity down by Lion’s Head Beach is not reliable for e-transfers or credit card charges. We hope to see you at our next Rotary Pancake Breakfast!
Rotary continues to thank our generous corporate and individual sponsors for their contributions towards our Pancake Breakfasts! These include Russell and Abby Miners (Miners’ Maple Products), Trace MacKay and Steve Woeller (Terrapin Social Finance), Pat Boyle Concrete, Dr. Pat Duronio, Rick Paciej and Kathy Austin, Barbara Dirckx (RE/MAX Grey-Bruce Realty Inc.), Leroy Dirckx (Atlas World Real Estate Corp.), David Hosken, Howard James, Wilfred Laman (Lion’s Head Beach Motel), and Dr. Dave Thomson. Our Pancake Breakfast sponsors help us offset breakfast expenses, the costs of putting on these breakfasts, allowing Rotary to have more money to put towards our various local community projects.
