SERVICE – WE ASSIST, NURTURE, SUPPORT
Submitted by Bonnie Warder
Our regular monthly meeting was held on April 5th at the Swan Lake Legion Hall. It was a lively meeting, indicating Spring has arrived and the members that had a winter getaway are back, ready to volunteer with our upcoming events.
Nancy Forgrave, Manager of Volunteer Programs and Outreach for the Bruce Peninsula Hospice, along with volunteer Hugh Wilson made a presentation, explaining the organization. The Hospice provides a compassionate presence and non-medical support for people living with a progressive life-limiting illness and/or grief. Our area is so fortunate to have access to such valuable assistance during the most difficult times.
As shown in the photo, the SWANS made a $400 donation to help with their expenses. The “Hike for Hospice”, one of the main fundraisers for the group will be held on May 7th, consider helping them out.
“Girls Nite Out”
Fashion Show May 11th
Speaking of fundraisers, our members are really lit about the Fashion Show. Please remember we are hosting our major fundraiser, “Girls Nite Out” on May 11th at the arena in Lion’s Head.
We are featuring fashions from Local Stores, Verna’s, Classie Casual Boutique and The Shops at 84 Main. The doors open at 4:30 pm with Charcuterie Fare at 5:30 pm and the show at 7:00 pm.
The tickets are selling fast and are available at Bear Tracks (CASH only please) in Ferndale. The entire evening is $30 or if you can only make the show, the cost is $15.
Our thanks to the stores providing the fashions, the Rotary Club for sponsoring the cash bar and the businesses that so generously provide items for the Silent Auction.
All proceeds from our fundraising events go back into our local community. As always, we appreciate your support and hope you can join in the fun!
