Tobermory Legion Branch 290 Receives a Makeover

If you have been to the legion in recent weeks you will have noticed (hopefully) that the branch has been getting a makeover. The main hall has been repainted and cleaned to the best of our ability and it looks amazing if I do say so myself.

Thank you to Sean Hurst and Brad Inglis for painting, Neil Golden, Sean and Brad for rehanging photos, and Brad for cleaning and pretty much doing whatever I asked of him. Yes, I helped too.

An enormous thank you to Jeff and Sandra Wilson of Wilson’s Home Hardware & Building Centre for donating the paint materials. You helped make dreaming a reality!

Also, new to the branch will be a much larger T.V. A huge thank you to Kristin Buckley of the Crowsnest Pub for this very generous donation. Now, we can watch sports in style!

There will be other improvements on the horizon but right now the Executive needs to manage what needs to be completed, think maintenance vs nice to haves, what we can complete with volunteers vs when to hire a professional, and above all, the cost of well, everything. So, no different than everyone who owns a house, rents or basically lives.

Full Moon Walk 2023

The Full Moon Walk in Recognition of International Women’s Day 2023 was a great success. Team Sara, Elaine, Summer and Jo are pleased with the turnout of over 30 people who joined the walk and donated to the Women’s Centre Grey Bruce. Over $500.00 was raised at the event with more being donated online and there are still donations being made.

Thank you to Sara-Jane Kaiser Gowland for her beautiful artwork for the poster and the Angels she created for each participant. Summer Martin for her expertise in designing the poster layout. Krystal at the Women’s Centre.

We thank ourselves as a whole for planning this event and we thank you all for coming out and supporting it. The moon remained behind the clouds but did not in any way deter us from walking in unity to celebrate the women in our lives and support a worthy cause.

Thank you Tobermory Trading Post and New Moon Interiors for donations to the free draw, Peacocks Foodland for the bottled water and Tobermory Legion Branch 290 for use of the facilities.

Maybe we will see you for the Full Moon Walk 2024. – Jo Anne Lane
