The Ferndale, Lion’s Head & District Lioness Club is once again assisting Lion’s Head District Legion in its efforts to provide accessibility to those in the community who are disabled. For the past year the Legion has been reaching out to the community in order to raise funds for its accessibility program. Earlier in the year, the Lioness club donated $1,000 to help with the project. So far, the Legion has raised enough money to install a ramp and remote-controlled door opener to allow for wheelchair access into the Legion hall. All of the construction work was done by Legion members.

The next project will be even bigger. And much more expensive! The new project calls for a building addition to house a wheelchair accessible washroom. This also entails renovating the existing septic tile bed to make room for the addition.

The Lioness Club holds its monthly meetings in the Legion and is happy to donate another $1,000 to help with this worthwhile project that will support our community.
