Enjoying the unseasonably warm weather and night lighting supplied by the moon, community members of all ages came out to enjoy a night with family and friends to view the 3rd Annual Pumpkin Parade held in Lion’s Head on November 1, 2022.

Starting at Lion’s Head Beach Pavilion, over 30 jack o’lanterns lined the pathway towards the Harbourside stage.

The idea of a Pumpkin Parade originated in Toronto, with many communities across Canada adopting the idea. Being held on the night after Halloween and with jack o’lanterns assembled in one area offered everyone an opportunity to see the creative talents of the pumpkin carvers.

Organizer Dominic Wong was pleased with the continued community support. On arrival to set up the event this year, 20 jack o’lanterns of various sizes and colours were already there to greet him, including the first tattooed pumpkin he had ever seen.

Wong is always thinking up ways to enhance the event, this year he added pre-recorded scary music.

Wong hopes to increase the number of pumpkins on display next year and invites everyone to start thinking of their designs.

Many of the people coming out to enjoy the Pumpkin Parade were seeing a Pumpkin Parade for the first time and said it was a great event for Lion’s Head.
