At the beginning of this month, Rotary hosted a bar for a class reunion held at Rotary Hall on the afternoon of Saturday, October 1st which was attended by about 35 past students from Bruce Peninsula District School.

Original artwork from local Bruce Peninsula artists were donated for the October 15th concert fundraiser silent auction with proceeds going towards the Golden Dawn redecorating project.

More recently, Rotary sponsored a fundraiser for Golden Dawn Seniors Home at Rotary Hall on the evening of Saturday, October 15th. It included a silent auction of two dozen original pieces of artwork generously donated by local Bruce Peninsula artists, and featured the wonderful music of the Canadian folk-rock band RPR, while Rotarians tended bar. This was a successful fundraising event which was well-attended by those in the community and by visitors from as far away as England. All proceeds from this fundraising event are going to Golden Dawn for their interior redecorating project.

More details on this fundraising event and the Golden Dawn redecorating project will be forthcoming in a future issue of Bruce Peninsula Press.

If you or your organization have plans for a fundraiser and would be interested in having Rotary hold a bar at the event, please contact any Rotarian and we’ll be happy to work with you to help make your fundraising event a success!

‘Tulips for Polio’ Update

The tulip bulbs have arrived! There were serious logistical issues with delivery since the tulip bulbs were originating in Prince Edward Island which was hit hard by Hurricane Fiona this past month. Those who previously ordered boxes of tulip bulbs have likely received their orders by the time this article is printed.

We’ve received a few extra boxes, so if you are still interested, you can place an order by contacting us at nbprotary@gmail.com. There are 25 tulip bulbs per box at a cost of $25, and once planted these will bloom beautifully in red and yellow this coming spring!

Proceeds from this fundraiser go towards Rotary International’s ‘Polio Plus’ campaign to eradicate polio throughout the world.
