As I write this it is the beginning of National Volunteer Week, April 24th to April 30th. And through this long Pandemic, Food Bank Volunteers all along the Bruce Peninsula have kept our Food Banks open. As one of those Food Banks, the front- line volunteers of the Tobermory Food Bank have worked through 6 waves of the Pandemic to ensure those facing Food Security issues had access to our Food Bank, with protocols in place that kept them safe, as well as the clients. Looking back, this prolonged Pandemic has seen the Tobermory Food Bank pack, and in some cases deliver, holiday hampers for three Easters, two Thanksgivings and Christmases. That is over 200 Hampers!
Tobermory Food Bank volunteers are not the only ones in our giving community who contribute their time and energy in volunteering in many ways to make our life so much better. We are so very fortunate. During this Pandemic the donations of many individuals, Churches, businesses and organizations have kept up and indeed increased; enabling the Tobermory Food Bank to assist those most in need in our community.
Even during these difficult two plus years, the Tobermory Food Bank has welcomed new volunteers who have greatly added to the team. By the time this article appears in the Press, Volunteer Week will have gone by, but not the efforts and dedication of all those who volunteer in many ways.
If you are interested to know more about volunteering at the Tobermory Food Bank or have any questions about the Food Bank, please call Linda at 519-596-2333. Keep taking care.
