The annual fall ritual of lifting the boats out of the water which marks the end of the boating season took place on Thanksgiving weekend at the Lion’s Head Marina. Over two days, on October 8 and October 9, the crane lifted 50 boats out of the water.
Lion’s Head Harbourmaster John Malott says it was a busy season with the Marina being full to capacity. With the boats out of the water, attention is now turned to assessing the full extent of the storm damage sustained on September 22.
Malott says the Insurers and Engineers have already visited the Marina, and a diver will come by in the coming weeks to assess the underwater damage to the docks. Malott says it will take time to determine the financial costs of the damage.
