On the evening of July 3rd at 7:00 PM, Can You Hear Me? Together A Walk Of Healing will be held in Lion’s Head.

This walk is in honour of the children of Residential Schools and the 215 unmarked graves of Indigenous children found near the Kamloops, BC Indian Residential School. The event is a joint collaboration between members of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation and members of the Lion’s Head community.

The Walk will start at the Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS), proceed to Main Street, down Webster Street and end at the beach pavilion.

T-Shirt shaped cut-outs will be hung along the route for people to write their messages of condolence and support.

At the end of the walk there will be a time for healing and reflection with residential school survivors and their families, as they share their experiences and their ongoing struggles.

The gathering will meet on the grassy area by the beach pavilion, so feel free to bring a blanket or a chair. Everyone is invited to wear orange for the event. Additionally orange T-Shirts (may not be exactly as shown in accompanying photo) will be on sale prior to the event and on the day with all proceeds donated to Children Services at Neyaashiinigmiing.

If you wish to join the walk, please meet at the Lion’s Head school on Moore Street at 6:30 PM, spectators are welcome to line the route.

Kindly remember that social distancing protocols will be in effect.
