A feeling of being a little more safe is the general sentiment expressed by vaccinated seniors. Fully aware that they should still follow safety protocols, the residents are pleased that the vaccine rollout is happening.
On Friday 9 April, seniors of North Bruce, age 70 to 75 years had appointments for COVID-19 vaccination at Bethel Church in Lion’s Head. Each with a scheduled appointment, at any one moment there were three to four individuals waiting in line outside the church. Running on schedule, each was called in one by one and had their temperature taken and sanitized their hands.
On entering, with three long tables set up, each patient was escorted to a seat, asked various questions, administered the shot, monitored carefully for 15 minutes. Chairs are promptly wiped down after each patient.
Mary Morgan of Lion’s Head was very complimentary of the process, “really awesome, well organized, everyone was friendly and efficient”. She describes it as a fairly contactless process, the only contact being with the nurse administering the shot.
