Submitted by Cathy Addison, Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula
Thanks to generous contributions of toys and cash donations, the Annual Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire and Emergency Services Toy Drive was a great success! The residents, cottage associations, cottagers and businesses generosity means that those children’s families who need a little assistance, had a wonderful surprise and beautiful gifts on Christmas morning.
The Toy Drive was off to a very slow start this year; however, as the weeks went on, the Toy Drive gained momentum and with the assistance of residents and cottage owners our community worked together to achieve the goal to assist fifty-four children from newborns to sixteen year olds. In doing so, our community showed that the spirit of giving is one which thrives during the holiday season.
Once more, we were fortunate to have some very special annual supporters. Thank you for your generous contributions! To the people who assisted with collecting financial donations throughout the peninsula, thank you for taking the time to ensure the children in need would have a memorable holiday during the Christmas season.
The volunteer firefighters have easy access to collecting the toys thanks to the businesses who host the drop box locations. We appreciate your kindness and commitment to this annual event.
There is a lot of “behind the scenes” work that takes place each year and special thanks to the Lion’s Head and Tobermory Food Banks. As a team we can accomplish great things.
We asked for your help, and you delivered! Thanks to our supporters and organizations, we were able to deliver toys and food baskets to families needing assistance within our Municipality. All the best to you and yours in 2020.
