BROUGH, DELBERT

404

On the afternoon of Thursday, September 11th, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his whole family, Deb’s journey came to an end on his own terms. Adored husband of Gail (Mason). Devoted father of Mike (Karen) and Judy (Colleen). Very proud grandfather of Alex and Kaleb (Annie). Deb was the last surviving member of the Alec/Cora Brough clan. He was born on the kitchen table in Ferndale during a snowstorm that had closed the roads to the Lion’s Head Red Cross Hospital on March 1, 1937. He passed in his inlaws living room in his recliner at 650 Gould Street, Wiarton while joking with the kids and even performing one last harmonica recital for the nurse. Debsy, 3 Bows, The Great Delbrowski, Dad, Bubba, Grampa, whatever name he was called, he was a real charmer. Deb worked the Tobermory to Manitoulin Ferries, as well as sailing the Great Lakes. He owned a dump truck and a tow truck, was a class A mechanic, did a stint as a door to door smoke detector salesman, sold lots of skidoos and used cars, and restored classic cars in his retirement. Delbert loved his family fiercely but loved a good deal a whole lot more!  He played the Hammond organ, the harmonica, the trumpet, the accordion and loved all music from hymns to rock and roll. He passed while listening to My Way by Elvis Presley. Deb didn’t want a service, so in his honour we ask that you spin the tires, lay some rubber and do a few donuts. May his memory be a blessing to all.Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, greybrucecremation.com
