BPHSF Press Release
Smile Cookie results are in… and both Wiarton and Hepworth Tim Hortons teams have outdone themselves again this year. Owners, Jim, Jordie and Michelle Preston credit their staff for this year’s tremendous success. Michelle shared that ‘the staff really got behind the campaign this year and even when both restaurants ran out of Smile Cookies, staff resourcefully iced smiley faces on any cookie they had, which resulted in an astounding 7,065 Smile Cookies made and sold! That is close to 1,500 more cookies than last year!
Tim Hortons annual Smile Cookie™ campaign returned for a week this past September, supporting local charities and organizations in communities across the country. Sharing smiles across Canada since 1996, the fundraiser first launched to raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario. The arrival of the blue eyes and pink frosted smile has grown to become a beloved annual fundraising initiative supporting over 500 charities and organizations, and an iconic Canadian symbol of Tim Hortons guests and restaurant owners’ commitment to strengthening their communities.
Since 2013, the Wiarton and Hepworth Tim Hortons restaurants have supported the mission of Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation (BPHSF) to “keep health care close to home” by donating 100% of Smile Cookies proceeds for priority hospital projects to keep our hospitals current. To date, this annual campaign has raised and astonishing $38,675 for local healthcare. This year, Smile Cookie proceeds will be applied to patient monitoring equipment and beds, mattresses and stretchers at both the Wiarton and Lion’s Head Hospitals.
