Almost everyone knows someone who has had an MRI. The MRI system at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital is used over 11,000 times a year on patients across Grey and Bruce Counties to diagnose a range of medical conditions.
The five foundations supporting Grey Bruce Health Services, including Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation (BPHSF) are fundraising in an effort to raise $4.7 million to purchase and install a new MRI in the Owen Sound Regional Hospital. Over $1.2 million has been raised so far.
Kevin Walsh and his wife Sandy have lived on the Bruce Peninsula since 1985, raising two children who both still reside here. In 1987 they started Kevin’s Mobile Mechanic and set up shop at Clark’s Corners. In 2017 Kevin retired, with son Jeremy and daughter Jelisa taking over what is now Walsh’s Garage. Since his retirement Kevin has been looking for a way to give back to his community.
“Working for healthcare is working for everyone” says Kevin, who sees the value in keeping this type of health care close to home.
Kevin has been actively canvasing local businesses and individuals and is asking for personal and corporate sponsors to step forward with their donation.
The Walsh Family, in partnership with Walsh’s Garage, have made a combined $5,000 pledge towards the MRI fundraising goal in hopes of encouraging other families and businesses to do the same. Every donation counts, please give what you can.
Please help OUR FOUNDATION (Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation) meet their share of the MRI fundraising. BPHSF accepts cash, cheques made payable to BPHSF, Visa and MasterCard. You can also make a donation with a pledge over 3 years. Tax receipts will be issued for the 2018 Income tax year if received by the Foundation by Dec 31st. April Patry and Bev Boswell can be reached at the Foundation office in Wiarton hospital at 519-534-5856.
Kevin stressed the fact that there is no government funding received for this equipment. “Let’s all do our part to keep healthcare close to home”.
If you have any questions give Kevin a call. He would gladly meet with you. If he doesn’t have the answer he’ll get one. He can be reached at 519-270-3637.
