This week Tobermory Yacht Club received the 2019 dates for the BOOM “learn to sail” program. We are thrilled that we have the first week in July for the sailing school. The advantage of having the lessons at the beginning of the summer is that there is all of July and August to hone the learnt skills.
The program will be held at Miller Lake, hosted by Summer House Park, from Monday July 1st to Friday July 5th. The day time classes, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, are for 16 youth ages 8-14. The cost for the five days is $400.00 a student payable upon registration.
New in 2019 will be the three-hour evening class from 5:30 – 8:30pm for 8 adults (Monday July 1st to Thursday July 4th). The cost for the adult class is $250.00 each. The BOOM mobile unit comes with eight sailing dinghies and two instructors, so each adult gets a boat to themselves!
This program delivers Sail Canada’s CANSail 1 & 2 basic sailing levels. The CANSail program is a set of progressive, learn to sail national standards that provide sailors with a foundation of core skills.
