Lion’s Head, ON — Emmett Stewart, a student at Bruce Peninsula District School, is making a meaningful impact in his community by raising funds in support of Brightshores Lion’s Head Hospital. Emmett has challenged community members to match his personal donation of $20, proving that small acts of generosity can inspire big results.

“Illness and medical emergencies can happen at any time,” Emmett shared. “Living in a small community, having access to local healthcare is something we shouldn’t take for granted.”

Emmett’s original fundraising goal of $500 was surpassed in less than 24 hours, thanks to an outpouring of community support. That momentum has been further amplified by the Macscott Family Foundation, which has generously committed to matching Emmett’s campaign total. The Macscott Family Foundation was created by long‑time seasonal residents whose family has been part of the Bruce Peninsula community for over 70 years, and they are deeply compelled to support a community that has meant so much to generations of their family. Moved by Emmett’s initiative and the spirit behind his campaign, they are thrilled to help extend its impact through this matching gift.

The campaign continues until May 21, with all funds raised supporting local healthcare close to home.

“Emmett’s fundraising campaign speaks volumes about the kind of community he is being raised in,” said April Patry, Executive Director of the Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation. “While Brightshores Lion’s Head Hospital—and all of us who depend on it—will directly benefit from this campaign, I hope its greatest impact for Emmett is experiencing the power of his community coming together in support of a common cause. That sense of collective support will stay with him for a lifetime, and I am deeply touched to witness it firsthand.”

Community members wishing to support Emmett’s campaign can donate online at www.bphfoundation.com, by calling the Foundation office at (519) 534 5856, or by mailing a donation to Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation, 369 Mary Street, Wiarton, ON, N0H 2T0.
