The Ashley Jackson RE/MAX Bonspiel happened in the Lion’s Head Arena on February 28. We had ten teams vying for the coveted first place. The RE/MAX Team provided a great day for us with two eight end games, lunch, prizes and snacks. We appreciate their enthusiastic support of the curling club.
Our AGM was March 2nd with pizza and curling too. Many thanks to our President Brenda and Vice President Susan Avis fulfilling the 2nd year of their two year terms. New members of the executive elected were Second Vice President, Mark Prieur, Secretary, Kat McCormack, Treasurer, Tom Cowan, Draw Master, Wayne Eichenberger, Assistant Draw Master, Dale Eichenberger and Bonspiel Co-ordinator, Julianna Murphy.
Our last draw of the season ended on March 9th. We continued to run the early draw 4-6pm with 6 teams and the later draw at 7-9pm also with 6 teams.
It was a great season of curling with 2 Bonspiels and 4 Draws with 2 time slots each. We helped with some student curling, attended curling clinics led by Marty Thompson and drove through snow and ice and fog to curl on Monday nights. Now it’s time to wash the curling sweater and hang it in the back of the closet until next season.
Happy and safe summer to all our curlers, see you in October when we will start off with a Learn to Curl night open to anyone wanting to try curling.
