Rotary Club of Northern Bruce Peninsula and Bruce Peninsula Environment Group (BPEG) co-hosted Earth Day activities at Rotary Hall on Wednesday, April 22nd with guest speakers, vendors and displays, including a display by Rotary’s Environment Committee.
This year, our Environment Committee will focus on a single major initiative, ‘Butt Blitz’ which is an education and awareness program about the toxicity of cigarette butts in the environment. Rotary will be working in collaboration with the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club to clean up areas around Lion’s Head.
Tuesday, May 12th will be Ontario’s seventh annual ‘Day of Action on Litter’, and Rotarians and others will meet at 10 AM at Lion’s Head Beach to formally kick off ‘Butt Blitz’! Litter grabber tools will be available that morning to help pick up litter including cigarette butts at our wonderful Lion’s Head Beach! We hope you can join us at this event to help keep our beach environment clean and beautiful!
On the morning of Tuesday, May 5th (or on the rain date of May 6th), your local Rotary Club will be helping out with trash pick-up along the shoulders of a four-kilometre stretch of Bruce County Road 9 between Lion’s Head and Barrow Bay (and also along some of the side road stretches between Bruce Road 9 and Highway 6). We participate annually in the Ontario ‘Adopt-a-Highway’ program, helping with road clean-up to keep Northern Bruce clean!
Upcoming Events including Rotary’s First Pancake Breakfast of 2026!
We hope to see you at the upcoming Harbourside Inside Open Mic concert and Music Trivia night at Rotary Hall on Friday, May 1st starting at 7:00 PM (with doors opening at 6:30 PM). As always, Rotarians will tend bar for this community event while the musical portion of the event is being hosted by Trio Infernale (featuring musicians Dominik Franken, Dan Corcoran and Robert Franklin). This is a free entry event, though donations towards Harbourside Inside are appreciated. Come out, test your music trivia knowledge and enjoy music by Trio Infernale and other local musicians!
The next scheduled Pub Nights at Rotary Hall are set for Fridays, May 8th and 22nd, starting at 7:00 PM and running through the evening. In addition to a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, a variety of snacks are available at Rotary Pub Nights – such as flatbread pizzas, sandwiches and potato chips.
Beyond our regularly scheduled Rotary Pub Nights, Rotarians will be tending bar for upcoming community events including the SWANS annual Fashion Show (to be held Thursday, May 7th, starting at 5:30 PM), and the annual Fish Dinner Fundraiser for Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary (Saturday, May 16th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM), with both of these events taking place in Lion’s Head Arena.
Rotary’s first community Pancake Breakfast of the 2026 season will be held at Rotary Hall on Sunday, May 17th from 9:00 to 11:30 AM! Rotarians and Friends of Rotary will be serving a delicious breakfast which includes pancakes with real maple syrup, scrambled eggs, pork sausages, hash browns, orange juice and coffee/tea. The cost remains $15.00 per adult, or $7.00 for children aged 12 and under. Rotary now accepts payment in cash or debit/credit card as we have a card reader at the Hall.
As in past years, this will be the first of four community Pancake Breakfasts scheduled for the Sundays of each holiday weekend from May to September – we hope you can come out for a delicious breakfast and support your local Rotary Club in its fundraising efforts for the Northern Bruce community!
Rotary Supports Local Students to attend the Youth Leadership Assembly
