SIU Invokes Mandate After Northern Bruce Peninsula Arrest

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following an arrest in Bruce Peninsula.

On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at approximately 1:10 p.m., members of the Grey Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a warrant at an address on Spry Shore Road in Northern Bruce Peninsula. One person was taken into custody.

During the arrest, the individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being gripped by a police service dog. The individual was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

As the SIU has invoked its mandate, the OPP will not be able to provide further information. Any media inquiries related to the SIU investigation should be directed to SIU Communications at siu.media@ontario.ca.

INCREASED POLICE PRESENCE IN SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – The Grey Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a series of break and enter occurrences in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

On Tuesday, April 21st, at approximately 2:03 p.m., officers responded to a report of a possible break and enter in progress at a residence on Howdenvale Road, east of Huron Road. Upon arrival, officers determined that multiple residences in the area had been forcibly entered. Containment was established with assistance from the OPP Aviation Unit, Canine Unit, and Emergency Response Team (ERT). During the search, police recovered a pickup truck that had been reported stolen from Wiarton earlier in the day.

Police have since learned that between April 21st and April 22nd the suspect stole a green Polaris Ranger 500 side‑by‑side ATV, bearing Ontario licence plate 84X83. A photo of the suspect and ATV can be seen below left to assist with identification.

The suspect remains outstanding. If you see this individual or the stolen ATV, do not approach. Call 911 immediately.

The Grey Bruce OPP is asking residents and business owners to review any video surveillance footage from the afternoon and evening of April 21st through April 22nd for suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity.

PICKUP TRUCK REPORTED STOLEN IN SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA

(WIARTON, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of a pickup truck reported in Wiarton.

On April 21st at approximately 4:30 a.m., a 2025 white Ford F-150, Ontario licence plate CD85917, was stolen from a vacant lot on Jenny Street. The vehicle is described as having a headache rack and steel toolboxes mounted in the truck bed.

Grey Bruce OPP are asking residents and businesses in the area to review any available surveillance footage from the early morning hours of April 21st. Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the vicinity of Jenny Street is encouraged to come forward.
