As Tobermory’s tourism season continues to grow, so does the need for more transportation to and from the area. In the summer of 2026, local tour company, Travelling Chicken, hopes to help fill this need with a shuttle service that will run from Tobermory to Toronto.
Lenka Macajova, who spends her summers locally, understands the struggles people have with transportation, especially in the peak season. “I always had the idea to start a shuttle. I didn’t know if there was going to be enough interest in it, but we are going to try this year,” said Macajova.
The shuttle service will target local residents who need a ride into Toronto, seasonal workers who come to work for the summer and need transportation, as well as those who want to come and stay for a weekend but don’t have a way to get to the Bruce Peninsula.
With both one way and return trip options, trips will run Friday and Sunday from mid-June to September. Pickup location is at 904 Dufferin St. at the Dufferin Mall, with a second location in a carpool in Brampton at Courtney Park and Highway 410. Private tours are also available for groups of any size, according to Macajova.
The biggest hurdle so far has been gauging interest. “I wanted to include week days as well, but for now I don’t know how busy it’s going to be. We will try for the first year and then the second year we will see,” she said.
The bus has storage built in for equipment that may be needed to enjoy a weekend on the peninsula, including camping gear and luggage.
Macajova plans to pair with some local businesses, making add-ons available when booking trips on their website. “In this way we can help support the local businesses in Tobermory as well,” she said.
