Bruce Peninsula OPP Report: Collision in North Bruce Causes Power Outage

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On October 29, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 6, north of Hidden Valley Road in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Upon arrival, officers located a pickup truck that had left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. The driver who was the lone occupant of the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

A 74-year-old resident of Northern Bruce Peninsula has been charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

Due to the impact, hydro crews were required to attend the scene to shut off power and conduct necessary repairs to the damaged utility infrastructure.

The Grey Bruce OPP reminds all motorists to drive with care and attention at all times to ensure the safety of all road users.

Wiarton Drug Trafficking Investigation Concluded

(WIARTON, ON) The Grey-Bruce Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with support from multiple specialized units, concluded a months-long drug trafficking investigation with the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of a substantial quantity of controlled substances and offence-related property.

In July 2025, members of the Grey-Bruce CSCU initiated an investigation into suspected drug trafficking activity in Wiarton, Bruce County. Two individuals were identified as key figures in the distribution of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine in the region.

Following extensive surveillance and intelligence gathering, officers obtained a CDSA search warrant for a residence on Frank Street in Wiarton.

On the morning of Thursday, October 9, 2025, the Grey-Bruce CSCU, with assistance from Huron-Perth CSCU, Wellington CSCU, Central Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Canine Services, executed the warrant. One accused was located inside the residence and arrested without incident.

On October 10, 2025, a second individual was arrested in connection with the same investigation.

As a result of the search, officers seized:

-A significant amount of controlled substances which included suspected fentanyl, suspected cocaine, and suspected methamphetamine, with a potential street value of over $300,000.00

-$1,695.00 in Canadian currency

-Various items of drug processing paraphernalia

-The estimated value of the seized offence-related property is approximately $1,800.00.

Pending further investigation of the substances, an updated release will be provided in the near future.

“This investigation represents an outstanding effort by our Community Street Crime Unit and supporting teams,” said Inspector Marla Barfoot of the Grey-Bruce OPP. “The suspected fentanyl seizure is one of the largest ever in Bruce and Grey Counties, and it represents a significant disruption to the illegal drug trade in our region. I’m proud of the teamwork, professionalism, and commitment shown throughout this operation.”

A 31-year-old, from Toronto, was arrested on October 9, 2025, and has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:

-Possession of identity documents (CC)

-Fail to comply with probation order (CC)

-Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking (CDSA)

-Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking (CDSA)

-Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking (CDSA)

A 58-year-old, from Wiarton, was arrested on October 10, 2025, and has been charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences:

-Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking (CDSA)

-Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking (CDSA)

-Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking (CDSA)

Both accused appeared for bail hearings on October 10, 2025, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

The 58-year-old was held for bail and has since been released on a Form 11 undertaking.

The 31-year-old was held for bail and remains in custody. Their next bail hearing was scheduled for October 30, 2025.

THEFT OF DIRT BIKE IN SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA

Photo: On October 14, 2025, at approximately 9:58 a.m., police were contacted regarding the theft of a red 2024 Honda CRF450 dirt bike. The vehicle, bearing Ontario licence plate 6J24H, was reportedly stolen sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. that morning.

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of a dirt bike from a property located on Centre Diagonal in the Township of South Bruce Peninsula.

On October 14, 2025, at approximately 9:58 a.m., police were contacted regarding the theft of a red 2024 Honda CRF450 dirt bike. The vehicle, bearing Ontario licence plate 6J24H, was reportedly stolen sometime between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. that morning.

DRIVER FACING IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – An individual from North Bruce Peninsula is facing impaired driving-related charges stemming from a single motor vehicle collision that had occurred on Stokes Bay Road, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.

On October 13, 2025, at approximately 8:10 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Stokes Bay Road, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula. The driver had swerved to avoid a deer and lost control of the vehicle, ending up striking a telephone pole.

The driver was not injured.

A 58-year-old, of Northern Bruce Peninsula, is charged with:

-Operation while Impaired – Alcohol

-Operation while Impaired – 80 plus

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on November 6, 2025.

THEFT OF SIDE BY SIDE VEHICLE

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of a 2012 orange Arctic Cat Side by Side, reported stolen from a property located on Highway 6.

The theft occurred sometime between October 1st and October 2nd, 2025. The vehicle, bearing Ontario plate 0CY65 and VIN 4UF12MPV9CT309694, was parked behind a shed on the property at the time of the incident. It is described as having damage to the right-side step and was carrying several items in the rear cargo area, including two chainsaws, multiple chains, and a small toolbox.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area or who may have information about the whereabouts of the vehicle to contact the Grey Bruce OPP at 1-888-310-1122 OPP or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The OPP reminds the public to report any suspicious activity and to take steps to secure valuable property.
