Tobermory Health Services Auxiliary (THSA) sends our congratulations to Annabelle Galasso, a dedicated student at Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS), who has been awarded the inaugural Tobermory Health Services Auxiliary Bursary! The Bursary was presented to Annabelle at the BPDS graduation ceremony on June 26, 2025 and Annabelle was very excited and grateful for the support of the Auxiliary and its donors.

Annabelle plans to pursue a career in paediatric nursing and has been accepted to Western University in collaboration with Fanshawe College for undergraduate studies. Annabelle is also an Ontario Scholar, she was Valedictorian along with James Wheeler and recipient of the School Letter/Award of Merit. The Auxiliary are very proud to be able to support students like Annabelle as they pursue a career in the health sciences in the hope that they will bring their skill set back to the North Bruce to work in our community.

The Bursary will be granted annually to students who have been accepted to a secondary institution for the purpose of pursuing a career in the field of health sciences as defined under the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA). While the THSA did have a second terrific applicant, Annabelle’s career choice was the only one that qualified under the RHPA designation.

The Auxiliary would also like to thank Emily Cameron, guidance counsellor at BPDS, for facilitating this award and we look forward to working with Emily and the students in the 2026 graduating school year.

Again, congratulations to Annabelle and all of the graduates this year and thank you to North Bruce donors who made this bursary possible. We look forward to hearing from Annabelle over the coming year as she lets us know how her studies are progressing.

For those students graduating in 2026, please contact Emily Cameron regarding the criteria and application at Bruce Peninsula District High School by late April, 2026 as applications must be received no later than mid-May, 2026.

Successful Chi-Cheemaun Weekend Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

In addition, The THSA would like to send our thanks to all of the community members, volunteers and donors who helped us to have such a successful Pancake Breakfast fundraiser! We raised a substantial amount of money towards the portable blood pressure monitors and will supplement the funds with our reserves to ensure that the Peninsula Family Health Team can acquire them as soon as possible!

We look forward to continuing our mission of “Enhancing Care, Enriching Lives and Uniting for Health since 1982 to create better experiences, wellness advocacy, impactful fundraising – for a healthier community”
