GREY BRUCE OPP URGE CAUTION ON ROADS FOLLOWING SERIOUS MOTORCYCLE COLLISIONS

(GREY BRUCE, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are urging all road users to make safety a priority following a concerning series of motor vehicle collisions (MVCs) involving motorcycles.

On Monday, June 23, 2025, officers responded to two separate motorcycle collisions, both resulting in life-altering injuries. These incidents come on the heels of two fatal collisions in recent weeks, where speed was identified as a contributing factor.

With the arrival of summer, the region is experiencing increased traffic volumes, including a noticeable rise in motorcycle activity. Warmer weather and tourism draw more vehicles to our roads, making vigilance and responsible driving more important than ever.

“We are deeply concerned by the recent trend in serious and fatal collisions,” said Staff Sergeant Henry Thalen. “Speeding, aggressive driving, and inattention are putting lives at risk. We’re asking everyone-whether you’re behind the wheel or on two wheels-to slow down, stay alert, and share the road.”

The OPP reminds all drivers:

• Obey posted speed limits and adjust for road and traffic conditions.

• Watch for motorcycles, especially at intersections and during lane changes.

• Avoid distractions-keep your focus on the road.

• Never drive impaired-by alcohol, drugs, or fatigue.

Motorcyclists are especially vulnerable in collisions. Riders are encouraged to wear full protective gear, ride defensively, and ensure their bikes are in good working condition.

The Grey Bruce OPP will continue proactive patrols and enforcement throughout the summer to help keep our roads safe for everyone.

Let’s work together to prevent further tragedies. Your choices behind the wheel can save lives.
