Today I thought I would write to say thank you for the positive feedback I’ve been receiving in response to these newspaper articles. I’ve had phone calls, emails, and many comments from people who look forward to reading not only the paper, but the wonderful local stories that are submitted by you, the reader. Much of the feedback is to say “keep up the good work” and that Bruce Men’s Shed should not only continue, but to spread the message and expand on how it does this. Thank you for the encouragement Brian!

We are making a number of items for sale such as bat and bird houses but have not been advertising. We have a few kits in stock that can be assembled for you or to take home. We are in the process of building raised planter beds for a fundraiser we will be doing for Golden Dawn. More to follow in the next issue!

One of our members has been making wooden cars, trucks, boats and dinosaurs and we agreed to support the Bruce Peninsula District School (BPDS) on their fundraising efforts to go to Europe next spring. We decided to donate some of these kits. There are twenty-four students going on the trip, and we delivered twenty-four cars, buses and dinosaurs so each student can paint and then post to an online auction. Good luck with sales!

Also in the previous article, I mentioned that two trailer loads of reusable material were hauled away from a shed we dismantled on a Nature Conservancy property. We rebuilt the shed on my property for use to make and store wooden things we make. I’m calling it the Bruce Men’s Shed’s Shed. Over three days we framed it out and will finish it in the spring.

Every Monday morning we meet for coffee 9am-11am, and our monthly meetings are the third Saturday morning of the month, same time. You don’t need to be a member to drop in for coffee. Both are held at Canadian Legion Branch 202 on Highway 6 just north of Ferndale. Doors open at 8:45 am. All are welcome.
