(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On October 19, 2024, at 9:51 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP received a traffic complaint of an impaired driver on Howdenvale Road in South Bruce Peninsula.
The police located the vehicle and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle did not stop, and a short time later crashed into a stationary police vehicle that was parked with its emergency lights and sirens activated. Both vehicles sustained damage, none of the occupants were injured.
A 19-year-old of South Bruce Peninsula was charged with:
· Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while Impaired – BAC 80 plus
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 31, 2024.
If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it. The OPP relies on the public to report crime. Impaired driving is a crime that should be treated no differently.
CHARGES LAID FOLLOWING INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE INVESTIGATION
(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On October 20, 2024, at 9:01 a.m., the Grey Bruce OPP responded to an address in Georgian Bluffs and initiated an intimate partner violence investigation.
As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed a criminal act against their partner.
A 27-year-old from the Municipality of Georgian Bluffs was charged with:
· Sexual assault cause bodily harm – choke, suffocate, strangle (two counts)
· Mischief – domestic
· Assault with a weapon – spousal
· Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – spousal
· Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
The OPP will not release names to protect the identity of the victim.

POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE WITH MISSING PERSON
Search Efforts Continue, Public Urged to Check Surrounding Areas
(M’CHIGEENG, ON) – The United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Anishnaabe Police (UCCM Police) and the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing their extensive efforts to locate 30-year-old Juanita MIGWANS, who has been missing since October 2, 2024.
The OPP would like to reassure the public that the search is still ongoing. Police are urging residents of M’Chigeeng and surrounding areas to diligently check their properties, outbuildings, and any areas where someone may have sought shelter.
Although there is no new information at this time, police continue to work on this investigation, and more information will be shared when it is available.
On October 7, 2024, UCCM Police received a report of a missing person identified as 30-year-old Juanita MIGWANS of M’Chigeeng, who was last seen walking on Highway 551 and Oakhill Drive in M’Chigeeng, on October 2, 2024, at approximately 10:30 a.m. She was wearing a light-coloured jacket and dark-coloured pants.
Juanita MIGWANS is described as an Indigenous female, with a slim build, approximately 5’6” (168 cm) and 110 pounds (50 kgs) with brown hair and brown eyes.
The investigation is being conducted by the Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit in conjunction with the UCCM Police, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
