Dear Editor,
In reply to the letter from Beverly Dywan, you say that you pay taxes here, and many ‘cottagers’ are contributing. But that applies to your other home as well. It is not a reason to come to your cottage.
You ask why you should have to stay in a larger municipality. Because you were told to by every level of government and every health official on the planet.
You rationalize your decision to ignore these directives and expect us to be okay with it. We are not.
I am obeying the directives and staying home. I am not going to visit my family, including my 5 month old great grandson whom I haven’t seen since Christmas. I am not putting my wants ahead of the needs created by this pandemic.
The numbers of cases and deaths in Ontario are the worst in the country outside of Quebec. The only reason for that is people not staying home and rationalizing their behaviour. You are not keeping us safe and protected from harm.
Sincerely,
Daphne Smith
